The Young Playwright Project helps young artists develop and produce their words for the stage!

About The Project

The Young Playwright Project offers young writers the opportunity to have their unpublished scripts developed, rehearsed and performed onstage! Successful applicants will gain support from an experienced writer and director, as well as being provided with actors, costumes, venue and rehearsal time, culminating in a performance of their work in December 2021.

Eligibility Requirements

About You:
Applicants must be between 13 and 25 years of age, and live, work, play or study in Melbourne’s western suburbs.
Dramawerkz encourages applications from First Nations, LGBTQ+, PoC, Disabled and/or Deaf artists.
About The Work:
We are open to scripts of any genre that are up to 10 minutes long (approx 10 pages of dialogue, a little less with monologues). This can be an extract from a longer work.
This writing can be at any stage in development, as long as it hasn’t been previously published or performed.
